The Issues
The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office is one of the largest law enforcement agencies in the State of Indiana. Learn more about the issues that Mike will tackle as your next elected Sheriff.
Maintaining and enhancing the safety of our communities.
I am committed to strengthening community partnerships and implementing proactive law enforcement strategies to ensure every neighborhood, every business district, and every rural area in our county receives the protection and service they deserve from the Sheriff’s Office. This means advocating for victims, pursuing criminals, and protecting all of your constitutional rights.
Keeping the roads safe for all residents.
With major highways running through our county and our significant manufacturing sector, traffic safety is paramount. I will prioritize education, enforcement, and crash reduction strategies to protect all who travel on our roadways.
Professional service rooted in serving you with honor and dignity.
Our agency has a long history, stretching back to 1830. This tradition of service has grown as our community continues to expand. I believe in treating everyone with dignity, regardless of their circumstances. Every interaction between our officers and the public will be characterized by respect, fairness, and the highest professional standards. Our citizens deserve nothing less.
Strengthening our agency through comprehensive officer support and development.
Our personnel are our greatest asset. I will invest in their training, well-being, and career development to ensure we attract and retain confident, well-rounded, officers who are equipped to meet today’s law enforcement challenges. Taking care of our personnel throughout their entire career ensures they can provide the highest level of service to our community.
Developing successful solutions to reduce recidivism and break the cycle of repeat offenses.
True public safety means not just responding to crime, but preventing it. I will work to implement effective evidence-based programs, strategies, and skill development that give individuals the tools they need to rebuild their lives and become productive community members.
Maintaining Agency Fiscal Discipline
The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office is made up of over 200 civilian and uniformed staff, dedicated to serving all of Elkhart County. The agency budget is one of the largest components of the overall county budget. By working both internally and with the County Council, I will ensure that fiscal discipline is maintained, while our staff continues to receive the training and equipment needed to serve the public to the highest capacity.
